Respect Due: A Tribe Called Quest

stahhr atcq respect due 1

This installment of “Respect Due” O.G. salutes A Tribe Called Quest. “Who got the vibe? it’s the tribe y’all.”. They are probably one of the greatest influences on me as an artist/mc in this hip hop culture. They created a lane that made it easier for me to approach my artistry the way that I do. Thank you for paving the way and for the inspiration!

[NEW VIDEO] @staHHr “ON MY GONZALES” FEAT. JOHN ROBINSON & EKUNDAYO (DIRECTED NICK BURNZ)

1900161_10202415846429359_1571411001_n

You know I always share a musical gift with y’all on my bornday. Enjoy!!!

“On My Gonzales” is Atlanta-based mc/lyrical alchemist/DOOM affiliate staHHr’s latest video from her “Mother Nature with a Molotov: Molotov Season” album. Joined by lyrical heavyweights John Robinson (Scienz of Life) and Ekundayo (L.I.U.N.S. Den), the trio lace this Floyd the Locsmif track with clever wordplay, smooth delivery and quotables for days. The title of the song comes from a line in staHHr’s verse, where she coins the phrase “on my Gonzales” in reference to one “being focused, handling biz, doing their job, etc”. Director Nick Burnz interweaves elements of “Golden Era” hip hop with live performance footage, playing off of the organic energy of the song and the undeniable and familial chemistry of staHHr, JR and Ekundayo.

Purchase “Molotov Season” here: www.stahhr.bandcamp.com

John Robinson made the trip from NYC to immortalize the energy that catalyzed the album with this visual(the first song recorded for Molotov Season), and had this to say:
“It was great to link with my ATL fam
staHHr and Ekundayo on this one! This is real deal fam biz. I have been rhyming with both of them in the trenches of the ATL scene since early 2000’s and we are still here holding the HipHop culture up strong. We gotta keep it moving swiftly…Always on our Gonzales yo! ZOOOOOOOM!”

[VIDEO] staHHr- “NOIRE” PRODUCED BY KYO ITACHI (FRANCE) DIRECTED BY NICK BURNZ

Whether you first heard ” Noire”(which means “black” in French)  on Kyo Itachi’s “Musikyo” or got hip to it from staHHr’s  “That Was You?”, you will undoubtedly enjoy the new video directed by Nick Burnz (Black Algebra) all the same. staHHr, hailing from Atlanta, joined forces with French producer Kyo Itachi ( Ruste Juxx, John Robinson, Bankai Family) to create this boom bap heavy joint. If you’re a graf enthusiast, you’ll definitely appreciate the backdrop of this video. Shot on location in Atlanta, we were fortunate to get this footage, as the building was torn down just days after the shoot.

Im surrounded by narcissistic rap fanatics
Time to recycle cause the earth dont do plastic
I keep it organic strike a pose like yoga
Vinyasa flow build with masters like Yida
I don’t give one iota of f@cks i keep it tucked
16 years deep still got the Midas touch
Goose with the golden eggs tina turner legs
Sister sledge hammer the track
Invincible it’s a fact
Decimating the fiction, vaping em with the diction
Standing on shoulders of jugganots, mound builders
Verb slayers, adjective and noun killers
All i spit burners, lady pink with the m-i
Ending rap careers head on collision with a semi
In my zone, scepter,.throne
Don’t even drink milk, why would i cry spilling it?
What more can i say? Top Billing it-killing it”

FRANK DISCUSSION (FRANK151BLOG) WITH staHHr

Frank Discussion: staHHr

staHHr

If I had a Guinness for every classic track staHHr has created – regardless of moniker – I would never be sober. Since we are just days away from the release of our latest book featuring DOOM, and she just dropped her latest album on her self titled bandcamp page, let’s have a Frank Discussion with someone who has flowed with him.

My name is… staHHr aka Mother Nature with a Molotov

And you might know me because… I’m the don mama of the ATL underground hip hop scene. “I been in this [mcing] game for years, it made me an animal,” word to B.I.G.

The best thing about what I do is… I get to share my art/skill with people all over the world without compromising artistic integrity or quality.

And the worst part is… it doesn’t pay all of the bills… yet.

The most addictive thing in my life right now is… roasted seaweed snacks, Oyin Handmade hair products, over using the word “though.”

More people should know that… ladybugs are beetles.

I always notice when… people are full of sh@t.

It’ll always be in style to… wear timbs year round.

But never… to be a biter.

Someone from the past who will never forget me is… anyone I made eye contact with B, I’m unforgettable. 🙂

Something I will never understand is… why people don’t honor who they truly are instead of living up to somebody else’s standards.

The best thing about Atlanta is… the regional dialect shawty!

And when you come here, you should check out… FTP Movement feeding the homeless every 2nd and 4th Sunday, Dulce Vegan so you can bring me some cupcakes and Five Points for people watching.

You haven’t lived until… you had falafel at 2 a.m. in Oslo with Amiri Baraka.

If… more of us walked how we talked… everything would be different.

The best frank advice I ever got was… people don’t give you what you deserve, they give you what you negotiate.
