Del is one of my favorite artists, any genre. He’s always been innovative, intellectual and “hood” all at the same time. This was my first time seeing him with Deltron3030, and out of of all the Del shows I’ve been to over the years, this was in my top 3 easily. They usually rock with an orchestra, but for this show they had a drummer, bassist, guitarist, Kid Koala djing and Dan the Automator conducting and playing beats. Deltron3030 performed for over an hour to a full house, on a cold, Wednesday night in the “Heaven” section of The Masquerade. The crowd was live, rapping along to most of the songs. Del has incredible energy, never missed a beat. The band was amazing and Dan the Automator is probably the most chill conductor you’ll ever see. After doing a thorough, hour long set, they came back and did an encore with “Clint Eastwood” (the Gorrillaz joint), brought the house down. Del is a good friend of mine, so I was able to enjoy the show on stage/backstage which enhanced my experience. Seeing the reactions on peoples faces, they were so in to it, really powerful seeing the impact music has on the masses. Big up to Speakeasy Promotions, opener The Difference Machine and the legendary Ladybug Mecca, who did a surprise set before Deltron3030. Oh, and the new Deltron3030 album “Event 2” is dope and out now. Cop that. Here’s a few pics from that night.
